Journal Prompt 1: What are you grateful for?

I've been reading Oprah's book, What I Know for Sure each night before bed.  This book has been recommended by so many people and I've been feeling a little here and there so I figured if anything could level me out, it's Oprah. She hops from story to story, lesson to lesson, but I find myself holding onto each word. There's one lesson in particular I've been holding onto ever since I read it, and it's about gratitude.

After reading this piece (it goes on) I realized I rarely if at all paused to write down let alone think about what I was grateful for each day.

Granted life does get hectic and overwhelming. I often find myself focusing on so many things that in the long run never actually needed that much focusing in the first place (but that's what we do!) So, per Oprah's advice, I though about what I was grateful for and my mind drifted off to a million and one things. See how insane that is?

Regardless of the lives we live-because of course they are all so different, there is something to be grateful for each and every day.

I'm a big advocate of keeping a journal. I think having a journal is such a therapeutic way to get out whatever is plaguing your mind, it's a great memory keeper and an even perfect creative outlet. However, I know it can be difficult to start a journal off. What do I write? What do I say? What do I want to say? I've asked myself that question so many times with new journals.

Because of this, I figured we could do a journal prompt each Friday to help with any blocks that may come up.

Today, write down five things you've been grateful for this past week.

Here are mine:

1. Im grateful to love and be loved

2. I'm grateful to have room to fail

3. I'm grateful to have a platform where I can share my thoughts and feelings and connect with people from around the world

4. I'm grateful to have a space I can call my own and feel my self in

5. I'm grateful to have the means to get a formal education

What are you grateful for?
