It's another Monday, which means more new music! Except it's not music today—it's podcasts!
I've been traveling for the past week so instead of listening to music on planes, I typically choose podcasts. There's something about interesting conversations that make time go by so quickly that before you know it, you've taken off and landed in what feels like 5 minutes. P.S. Something I've learned is that if you happen to get anxious or stressful while traveling, podcasts really help you zone out and calm down!
Here are some podcasts (and maybe more specifically episodes) I listened to in the past week:
Friday Night In is a podcast hosted by Joanna Spicer + Haley Blais (two YouTubers who also carry many titles beyond YouTube as well). This podcast is basically just you listening to two best friends catch up and have a conversation about the stuff they did that week and it's utterly hilarious. I started listening to this podcast about a month ago and I still find myself laughing so hard I have to physically turn my body so people don't think I'm just randomly laughing at nothing. I sort of feel like i'm hanging out with the girls laying on the bed having a conversation about the most ridiculous things and that's why I'll probably never stop listening to this podcast. They also answer email Q's and give advice at the end of each episode!
When Atlanta announced she had a podcast I freaked! I absolutely love Atlanta and looooove this podcast just as much. This podcast is pretty new so there are only a handful of episodes but they're also so interesting. Atlanta interviews a cool woman for each episode and cover topics on mental health, sex, relationships, self-help etc. While some of the topics can be a bit intense (and potentially triggering—definitely read each episodes bio before listening) it feels like the conversation you and you're closest friend would have. It's also nice if you're going through anything similar that they talk about in each episode because you realize you are not alone in any capacity. Of course it's also refreshing just to hear women in their 20's talk about their struggles and accomplishments and how they're navigating the world.
On Being is a podcast by Krista Tippett. Krista carries many titles, some of which include: journalist + author. I was recommended this podcast by my mom, and I also happened to see some people I follow on IG recommend some episodes so I've kind of just fallen into this amazing black hole of deep and insightful conversation. Krista interviews people each episode on some of the most insane topics. I listened to: Cosmic Imagining, Civic Pondering and This Is Your Brain on Sex. Both conversations were so deep and amazing that I came out of it looking at the world in such a different perspective (seriously, they're that good). If you're looking to learn something newOn Being
I listened to one of Estée's podcast episodes on my flight to Budapest about Identity. Estée has always been one of my favorite YouTubers and her podcast covers basically everything. This podcast is a bit more scripted in sections but I like it because it gives more of a story-telling vibe. I chose to listen to the Identity episode because Estée is Canadian but moved to London and the whole idea of identity especially when you move across the world is such an interesting thing. Estée also interviews a really artist and musician Kayla Brilët and they have an amazing conversation on identity and what things really contribute to who you are.
