Films are a huge part of our lives, even if you might not personally think so. They influence how we act, what we wear, and who we want to be. As an only child, I've always found film as a way to escape, and create other worlds away from my own. When I wasn't falling into these worlds or creating some up on my own, film allowed me to see the actual world in a completely different way. Although there were times when I would have a bad or lonely day, I never stopped seeing the magic in everything because of the way film altered my perspective. Through this fascination and absolute love of film, a lot of my free time is spent going to see films, or watching films at home. Anytime I see something really good, I instantly need to share it and talk about it with others. So, here are some I really enjoyed watching that you should 100% watch this Summer. And if you've already seen them, rewatch them!
I watched this movie a couple Summers ago, and just absolutely loved it. I feel like we don't really have enough well done films that focus on the somewhat normal and mundane lives of teenage girls/young women, and think this one does a great job of doing that. While everyone deals with major changes and transitions in their lives while they're young, there's something about that time in between high school and college for teenage girls that's just so poignant. I highly recommend this!
I remember watching this film when I was in middle school and absolutely falling in love. As an 11-12 year old, I was fairly impressionable, so watching something like this made me truly truly fall in love with adventure, indie music, and well, the city. This film focuses on young love + music and is basically a quintessential indie film. So, if you haven't seen it yet, you MUST! Also, Michael Cera is like....extremely cute in this.
I watched this film once such a long time ago, but I think I was probably too young to really understand any of it. So, I rewatched it last week. There's a reason why so many people talk about this film and the inspiration they find from it. Greta has this amazing way of capturing everything you're feeling and expressing it through the screen. If you're a 20 something you should absolutely watch this film. You'll fall in love, cry, laugh and relate just a bit too much.
