Hello all and welcome to an episode of Skin Deep
Recently I've gotten really into skincare and upon jumping head first, I've realized there's no going back.
Though I wouldn't call myself a rookie when it comes to the beauty world, skincare products in general are always a bit risky because you typically need to spend a good amount of money to get something that's basically the bang for your buck. Also in being a student, you don't have tons of cash to spend (so you wanna do it right.)
The first product I purchased was this lace sheet mask by Hey Pinkgo Girl. 5 masks come in a box, and they price around 12-15 dollars. This masks purpose is basically to repair damaged skin, so if you have any sun damage, acne damage, etc., this sheet masks helps! Something I LOVED about this mask was the amount of serum packed into this sheet. I'm almost positive this is probably why only 5 come in a package. The separate packages are so thick and when you open them, you're just met with the most serum packed sheet mask of your life.I love to do this mask in the morning because your skin looks brighter, and your pores feel so tight after, so it's perfect especially if you're putting on some makeup after.
The second item is a clay mask by Beauty Facial Extreme. I 100% would recommend buying this mask because it does exactly what it says it will. The purpose of this mask is basically to repair your skin by bringing all the impurities clogged into your pores to the surface, then tighten those pores to reduce junk from finding its way into them. I like to do this mask after the shower because you're pores are open, and therefore the product can easily work itself into the skin. I apply a good amount to my face and let it sit for about 20-30 minutes, and as you sit with it on, you'll feel a tingling feeling on your face and it's the best thing since sliced bread
The third product I purchased are the Dermal Collagen Essence Korean sheet masks. These masks all have collagen essence so they help to plump your skin up, give it hydration, and refine the skin. I'm really happy I got these masks because we tend to forget that our skin needs hydration, and drinking water isn't gonna cut it honey! This package comes with 16 variety masks, and all have different uses which are written on the bottom. I like to put the sheet mask on after the clay mask because your skin definitely feels dried out after the clay mask, and this just helps to bring your skincare routine full circle. Another thing I like to do is to keep this mask on until it feels almost dry, and after peel it off and rub the remnants on the front part of my neck. Remember, your neck gets wrinkles too!
The last product I've only recently purchased so I haven't had a lot of time to really develop an opinion on it, but it's the Daiso Japan peel off mask. This mask is kind of like those Biore nose strips, except is a black liquid that you spread all over your face. It's a bit intimidating, however it really does unclog all your pores (kind of gross and satisfying at the same time.) Though I absolutely love it because it really gets the gunk out of your skin, I should mention that it hurts like an actual b*tch to take off. If you've ever been mic'ed before, and had to have tape put on your cheek, the ripping off feeling is what this mask feels like.
I already knew the area I kind of wanted to venture into, and that was the Korean Skin-Care world. If you haven't heard much about it, I suggest reading this Man Repeller article entitled: "The Lazy Girls Guide To Korean Skincare Essentials." This article basically got me super interested in Korean skincare and I would highly recommend it.
Before we get into each product, I want to make a disclaimer that only one out of the four products I've purchased are actually Korean, however through taking the time to research Korean skin care, it allowed me to discover other products which were either recommend by people who are die-hard Korean skincare users, or did the same thing as Korean products for half the price.
Overall I'm so happy with my purchases and will definitely be re-purchasing everything. Yes even the charcoal mask...
If skincare intimidates, you these are all products that are super easy to use, and fairly inexpensive! Seriously...the most expensive item were the sheet Hey Pinkgo Girl masks, which were about $15.
Skincare is such an important thing, and the sooner you can get into it, the less hiccups you will face down the road with your skin.
All these products are available on Amazon, and more specifically, Amazon prime so you get your items super quickly!
All products are linked for shopping ease so click any of the photos and have a little fun exploring the wonderful world of skincare.
Until next time....
